TRIUM Environmental Inc. is seeking a highly skilled AI System Engineer with a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and demonstrated experience in Artificial Intelligence applications for environmental systems.
The successful candidate will contribute to the research, development, and technical implementation of TRIUM’s Artificial Intelligence-Based Soil Characterization Technology (AISCT) and the company’s AI-Based Environmental Data Platform.
This position combines environmental engineering expertise, AI model development, and system integration to advance next-generation technologies for environmental characterization, remediation, and decision support.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct technical development and updates of AI database for TRIUM’s AISCT systems with data processing, validation, and model training using site-specific datasets and measurements.
Conduct maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of AISCT systems used in rentals, licensing, and pilot projects and support testing and field operations, providing technical feedback for continuous improvement.
Develop and validate AI algorithms and machine-learning (deep learning) models for analyzing environmental datasets, contaminant distribution, and remediation performance.
Contribute to the design and implementation of an AI-based Environmental Data Platform using specific Large Language Models (LLMs) for intelligent data integration, visualization, and predictive analysis.
Collaborate with R&D team members to couple AI analytics with environmental process models, enabling adaptive and intelligent system behavior.
Prepare technical documentation, research summaries, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Participate in other research projects with universities, partners, and funding agencies.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering with demonstrated experience in AI, machine learning, or environmental data analytics.
Strong understanding of AI applications in environmental systems, particularly for soil characterization, contaminant assessment, or remediation design.
Experience in environmental process modeling, big data analysis, and predictive simulation.
Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for data analysis and model development.
Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
Background in contaminated site assessment, groundwater modeling, or remediation technologies.
Strong skills in technical writing, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Willingness to travel occasionally for system validation, client support, or collaborative field projects.
Eligible to work in Canada (such as Citizenship, Permanent Resident and etc.)
Preferred Assets
Experience with sensor-based data processing, environmental instrumentation, or AI-integrated field technologies.
Publication record in AI, environmental modeling, or remediation research.
Experience with AI-driven environmental decision-support systems or digital twins.
