AISCT®

Artificial Intelligence Site Characterization Technology. Where Physical AI Meets Environmental Decision-Making.

Environmental site characterization has been done the same way for decades. The instruments have evolved, but the fundamental problem — too few data points, too much uncertainty, too many decisions made in the dark — has not. AISCT changes that.

What Is AISCT?

AISCT (Artificial Intelligence Site Characterization Technology) is a purpose-built physical AI system for environmental site investigation. Developed by TRIUM Environmental Inc., AISCT integrates standardized hardware instruments with AI-driven analytics to produce high-density, defensible field data that guides real-time decisions on contaminated sites.

AISCT is not field screening in the traditional sense. It is a structured data generation and decision system — one that produces the volume, quality, and consistency of data required to actually manage heterogeneous soil environments with confidence.

The system comprises three specialized hardware units — Aurora, Sal, and Petro — each targeting a different class of contaminant, and a cloud-connected Decision Support System (DSS) that aggregates data, applies AI interpretation, and delivers actionable outputs to the professional in the field and the project manager in the office.

The Physical AI Concept

Physical AI is the convergence of purpose-built hardware and intelligent software. It is not general AI applied to a problem after the fact — it is AI integrated into the physical measurement process from the ground up.

In environmental site characterization, this means:

Hardware instruments engineered to eliminate the primary sources of variability in conventional field screening
Standardized, repeatable extraction and measurement conditions across all operatorsand all sites
AI models trained on thousands of site-confirmed data points to interpret field readings in the context of laboratory-equivalent outputs
A connected software platform that synthesizes data in real time, flags anomalies, tracks QA/QC, and supports delineation and remediation decisions

AISCT is Physical AI for complex environments. It is designed for the reality of contaminated sites: highly heterogeneous, spatially variable, operator-dependent, and subject to regulatoryscrutiny at every step.

Why TRIUM Built AISCT

The environmental industry has had regulatory guidance for better site characterization practicefor decades. The U.S. EPA, the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME), and the CSA Group have all clearly described what good practice looks like: high-density sampling, structured QA/QC, data-driven decision-making, and statistical frameworks for managing heterogeneity.

What the industry lacked was not the roadmap — it was the tools to execute it at field scale. Conventional instruments were designed for a different era. They produce qualitative, operator-dependent, highly variable data that is fundamentally inconsistent with the certainty that regulatory closure requires.

TRIUM built AISCT to close that gap. To give environmental professionals tools capable of executing what the best guidance in the industry has been describing for twenty years.
